چکیده

I n this paper we discuss a new approach to invariant signatures for recognizing curves under viewing distortions arid partial occlusion. The approach is intended to overcome the ill-posed problem ofjinding derivatives, on which local invariants usually depend. The basic idea is to use invariant finite differences, with a scale parameter that determines the size of the differencing interval. The scale parameter is allowed to vaty so that we obtain a “scale space”-like invariant representation of the curve, with larger difference intervals corresponding to largel; coarserscales. In this new representation, each traditional local invariant is replaced by n scale-dependent range of invariants. Thus, instead of invariant signature curves we obtain invariant signature sutjaces in a 3-0 invariant “scale space”.

Invariant Grey-Scale Features for 3D Sensor-Data

In this paper a technique for the construction of invariant features of 3D sensor-data is proposed. Invariant greyscale features are characteristics of grey-scale sensor-data which remain constant if the sensor-data is transformed according to the action of a transformation group. The proposed features are capable of recognizing 3D objects independent of their orientation and position, which ca...

A New Approach of Local Feature Descriptors using moment Invariants

Moment invariants have been widely introduced in recognizing planar objects for a few decades. This is due the robustness of moment function in distinguishing the original identity of object under various two Dimensional (2D) transformations. A set of moments computed from a planar images, represents the global description of an object’s shape and geometrical features of an image. Since global ...

Composed complex-cue histograms: An investigation of the information content in receptive field based image descriptors for object recognition

Recent work has shown that effective methods for recognizing objects and spatio-temporal events can be constructed based on histograms of receptive field like image operations. This paper presents the results of an extensive study of the performance of different types of receptive field like image descriptors for histogram-based object recognition, based on different combinations of image cues ...

Euclidean Invariants of Linear Scale-Spaces

The similarity jet of a linear scale-space is described in its most concise set of local and multi-local Euclidean invariants. The stability and (partial) equivalence of topologies on these invariants regardless additive uniform Gaussian noise is demonstrated.

Using Photometric Invariants for 3D Object Recognition

In this paper we describe a new efficient algorithm for recognizing 3D objects by combining photometric and geometric invariants. We derive some photometric properties that are invariant to the changes of illumination and to relative object motion with respect to the camera and/or the lighting source in 3D space. We show that recognition does not require a full constancy of colors; rather, it o...
